Welcome to my website. Actually, my human maintains this, I just ham it up on cam so he has something to do at night.

My name is Gromit and I'm an English Springer Spaniel. If you're a Nick Park fan, you'll get the name immediately. For those of you less familiar/fortunate, here's a link to Wallace & Gromit. My humans are big fans and like the fictional Gromit, I am very bright, a great companion and am very animated.
If you're a Unix fan, Gromit is also a Unix Configuration Tool. :-)

My humans rescued me via the Mid Atlantic English Springer Spaniel Rescue Organization(MAESSR). MAESSR placed 176 Springers for 2003! Well done!!
I started out at a caring and wonderful foster home until I was healthy and offered on the MAESSR website. I captured the hearts of my current humans when they visited me during the holidays and decided I would be a good addition to their family. Since then, I have had a lot of fun with them, and am learning how to manage them properly. Things are working out well and I'm sure they will document a lot of fun here. So, like a dog to its food dish, come back often to be rewarded..

Here are a few pics from the pre-adoption visit...
how could they resist such a handsome guy?

About me:

I'm ~3yrs old, housebroken, and am learning more every day. I know sit, shake, hi-5, down, stay and give kisses on command... I have a lot of fun throwing around duckworth (pictured above)... The tellers at the bank love me and give me a treat when I get to go with my humans - now that's the kind of withdrawal I like -Yummy!!

The Game Show Channel on tv troubles me... why do they have to use a doorbell to end a round or when a match is made to a word?! Whenever I hear the doorbell, be it on tv or real, I always bark and feel the need to defend my home. ;)  You wouldn't believe all the commercials and shows that use one! My humans are becoming masters of the MUTE button on the remote. I don't like fireworks or loud noises, you can see in the pics below how I was cured of stressing over them last 7/4.

I get escorted in the yard since, as a Springer, we've all found out I can leap a 4' fence! I have been retrieved quickly, without harm, but my humans are trying to deciding on fencing as one quote was $6480.00! Brian about hit the roof... we may need a higher roof too! I'm just living up to my breed... a Springer. Tigger doesn't have anything on me!! When I went to visit my human at his computer, it looked like he was developing some sort of vertical inhibitor which makes a noise if my back goes too vertical, like as if it would be when I was beginning to stand on my hind legs to scale a fence or counter-surf. Sometimes all it takes is an idea to get rich. ;-) Someday...someday...

School days, drool days, good ol...

The pics in order are - Getting to school in safety, in school with Rachel&Brian, Bella (far left) and Buddy (right), Dawn (instructor) and Gromit, then my graduation day pic, and diploma. :) Brian really aced the Q&A session during graduation, showing he really know their dogs. I've made a lot of improvements and I'm sure they'll continue to work on my skills. We might even sign up for another class sometime... Thanks to Dawn (trainer/instructor) and Pet Smart for working with us all.

I'm still occasionally wearing my boots (more so when it was snowy,) as they protect the feet well when it's muddy, etc. I'm getting used to them mostly, and don't walk like I have flippers on -I'm just glad he didn't have a video camera that first day I had them on!  We went kayaking in late April and only had two water rescues! Not bad for my first time out!
Lobster heads, Lobster heads, eat them up yum. Yes, the parts they ate smelled good, so I counter-surfed and got me one... but think they got the best part. Who knew?

Health update: (Condition: YELLOW/GREEN )

I'm doing well and still playful as ever, despite being treated for Lyme Disease and a few seizures, last one in Aug '06 bringing the total to five, but they're been far enough apart to where we're not medicating yet, though trying an antibiotic. Fortunately, my humans have been around when this happened, and although a very scary thing, helped me through it. I know my humans love me a lot and will take great care of me.
I get groomed at Teg's Canine Clippery and as long as they don't mess with the tail end, we get along fine.  The Valley Green Veterinarian in Etters takes good care of me also, and my humans are always checking me for those nasty ticks which transmit
Lyme Disease. Be informed and have your pet checked during the year. It happens to the best of us, but it doesn't have to take us down if we catch it early!

    Dog Truisms

Remember, there is no snooze button for a dog that needs to go out, or wants breakfast.

If you leave the bathroom door open, I'll sit by you while you go...you stand while I go on walks. -Gromit 2004

If one of your humans is engaged in some activity and the other one is idle, stay with the busy one. This is called "helping" (known to humans as hampering). Also, when supervising cooking, sit or lay behind the left heel of the cook. You will not be seen and therefore stand a much better chance of being stepped upon. This action is usually followed by intense hugging and comforting with a food or treat.

Note: No humans were harmed in the making of this site. Feel free to Mail us if you enjoyed your visit.  More updates coming soon!
