Welcome to my new hobby... GOLF.

Entering my 5th year of golfing, I'm just tracking my best front and back scores below for the courses I've played.  I've made vast improvements in lowering my scores and attended my first Pro Tourney, the US Open in June 2007 at Oakmont!

I'm now a member at Colonial Country Club and am enjoying both golf and tennis there.

I just bought some new Taylor Made Tour Burner irons and have been hitting my TM-R7-425 with pro launch shaft quite well.  It has won me 4 longest drive awards thus far. I now hit a TM Burner 3 & 5 wood, and do well with the Rescue 5 wood also. Completing the set is my Odyssey White Hot Tour Putter (pic below), which looks sharp and works well for me.  I get a lot of comments on my unique Lobster head cover, as Maine stays with me wherever I play.

I've switched to the Nike One golf ball and am a big fan of the BRUSH tee! -yes, it's USGA/PGA approved.

Thanks to my parents, teaching pros, and some co-workers for their time, patience and advice... and may you par when I birdie.

Click this link to the U.S.G.A. and join as I did. You'll receive some nifty items and support a fine organization.

For Adults Only:

It's always good to go to the Sporting Goods Store to get outfitted, as some courses are serious about proper attire, while others aren't. Clothes are important, but Martha Burke (August scene) rallies aren't the best places to get assistance. Speaking of attire, due to mosquitoes, try to layer clothing when possible to avoid those nasty bug bites in the worst places.
This image reflects how men think it should be played and we know some women will do anything to make us lose our focus. It's all about focus and recovery, right? Sometimes though, they're nice enough to point things out for us.

Notable moments in my world of golf:

  • While awaiting a friend in the dining room of a country club, my friend, who shall remain nameless was in the bathroom, and while on the throne, a golf ball fell out of her pocket, bounced into the next stall and into the commode. I told her to report it as a hole in one for the 19th hole?!

  • Almost getting hit by my uncle as I moved the cart to the right a good distance from him, and he hit the ball into my moving cart and the ball stayed in the cart. 06/28/03 (Pic above)

  • Shooting a 39 in golf league with co-worker Rob at Groffs Farm GC. 6/04/04

  • Watching an alligator eye Dad as he chipped on from beside the pond at the Mustang  Course in Florida. 11/04  (Pic above)

  • Driving the elevated 300yd green on the 9th hole at Valley Green while out with my neighbors on a record 64 degree New Years Day. 01/01/05

  • Shooting a 40 in golf league at Riverview. 06/28/05  Shot my age again (41) at Riverview 8/15/06! Shot 2 40s in July '07!

  • Taking 2nd in the Riverview golf league (again). Way to go guys!

  • Showing Mr. Castle how to hit his new TM-R5, then his new TM-R7. :) (Though he does well quite well on his own)

  • Shooting a 43 on the front in the Treasury League as a sub at Sportsman's, getting a victory for the team. 06/06

  • Going to the 107th US Open at Oakmont  for my birthday with my parents and girlfriend. 06/07

  • Shooting an 82 on Providence Golf Course in Va.

  • Shooting a 39 in my league at Armitage in June of 2008!

  • Dunking a 68yd Sand wedge shot for an eagle on #4 on Riverview in my league in July of 2008!

  • Driving the #9 green 278yds away at Armitage in League f or a birdie and a 41 overall score in August 2008!

  • Driving 3' away from the 298yd green at Armitage in August 2008.

  • Winning the Defense Distribution Golf League Division Championship, then League Championship in September 2008.

  • Winning the  League Appreciation Day 4-man blind Scramble with me as Captain in October 2008.
