Trip to the Dauphin Narrows
(Dauphin Shallows?)
07/07/02

Although it was quite hazy, the weather was decent and it was an interesting trip.
Various skill levels and paths to take made it quite interesting... but a good time was had by all.
The narrows were shallow, we had some rock landings, and even a pre-launch kayak landing... fortunately Old Town makes a solid boat. :-)

The Dauphin Narrows Statue of Liberty  is a  25 foot replica of the Statue of Liberty constructed out of wood, metal, and fiberglass by a group of Harrisburg area citizens, led by Mr. Gene Stilp, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of "Lady Liberty."

Note - Apologies to those without fast connections... I got the page created, and pics up as promised. :-) I just didn't optimize them for fast loading, or thumbnail them. It was a long day, lots to do when we got back.

Off we go, into the Susquehanna...

Carol gets some speed up.

Charlie coasts for a pic.

Behind the back shot, I caught Chris on my six.
Chris and Carol eye up a path.

Dave practices a roll.

Neat shot of Dave surfacing. This could be magazine work here...

Shirley also goes for a dip.

Group shot in the haze.

Another of the group entering an opening.

A few in front...

DEER! We saw two drinking at the waters edge.

Water shot near the lunch site.

Tree scenery as we paddled by.

More scenery I liked...

The sign says it all...

Our vehicles loaded up after the trip, at BlueMtn.

She cracked her paddle, but I got the new one? What a deal. :-)

Thanks to Dave and Shirley for guiding us through the Narrows. Thanks to Pat for working this up since the GunPowder was too shallow. Pat, thanks for being the drag queen as well? :-) (Person in the back, aka drag...)
I think we all bought something at Blue Mountain Outfitters, once we found it. heh
Hope the food was good at El Rodeo.
It was fun paddling with the group... looking foward to the next time.
