We got a fair amount of paddling in, and then had to say goodbye to Barb. To make her proud, we paddled until our arms almost fell off... well, we did have some energy to stop and skip rocks a few times... well, I skipped them several times, Deb had the single skip method down. heh
Brian (I) enlightened the group on a few things, namely the origin of phrase "SOL", as we came across some stumps that doubled as Indian outhouses. I went on to say that as they became full, the "Spirit of the Loo (SOL)" would then make the stumps walk into the water or into the forest to let the matter decay. Therefore, when another Indian came to where he thought the stump was, he'd be "SOL" as it wasn't there anymore. Ah yes, Maine folklore as told by Brian... we'll save his Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Story for another page/time...
We did lots of paddling and were glad to get back. It was an enjoyable day, and kudos to Deb for guiding us around the various fingers of the lake (watch that misleading bridge Deb).
After asking several people, we did find out what those boxes were with the hole in them, and found some other interesting artifacts/furniture on the banks of the lake. Brian even got some more surfing in and was thrilled but, enough of the verbage... on to the pics!
