Assateague Island National Seashore

A good time was had by all... who were they all?  We had people from Conewago, Harrisburg and even Baltimore kayakers heard about this through some newsgroup apparently. In any case, there was enough water, sand and wildlife for all of us.

Friday was a bit hairy... rain here and there, strong winds and heavy traffic had us arriving ~7pm. Several of us experienced the fun of setting up a tent in ~40-50mph winds! Talk about a human parasail, I almost had to grab Rachel's leg once (and that was before we got in the tent!) to prevent her from becoming the flying nun? Anyhow, we got staked down, and thanks to Wilfried and Jim for coming over to lend a hand. Sleeping was another accomplishment on this windy night but we all seemed to get enough to make it through the next day's activities. Without getting too wordy, the weather broke, though some prevailing winds on the open water made some paddling a bit of a workout, the scenery was well worth it!
I know... enough already, onto the pictures! I didn't get as many as I wanted but these were fairly good. Enjoy!

Parking horizontally to shield the tent from the winds worked well.

Although looking blue, Rachel is pretty happy on the water

Back on land, we did the marsh walk and saw fish, crabs, but no dog ticks as advertised.

One gorgeous boat, our hats off to Blackketter. I even got the van. Order yours today!

To end the night, Mike (lead guitar) and Chris (lead sax) played some music by the campfire!
Great tunes and treats, thanks to all for this fireside fun.
What a way to end a night, G-strings and SAX ON THE BEACH.
Now there's a headline for the papers! :-)

I think we all slept well this night!
