WELCOME TO PAKAYAKER.NET!

  Updated August 15, 2008

Welcome to the page of this particular "Pennsylvanian" kayaker.
Actually, I'm a native Mainer and Friend of Acadia (National Park) , now living in PA.

Hopefully you'll find this site to be both enjoyable and a nice resource to bookmark. If you have anything to add, feel free to write but onto why it's here.

Entering my 6th year of kayaking, I've enjoyed it immensely, trying out  various models of kayaks from Perception , Old Town Canoe and Prijon. As I am originally from Maine (perhaps a small bias there, heh), I decided on the Old Town Loon series purchased through our friends at Wildware BackCountry in Harrisburg. Due to a lot of travel for work and not having the dog anymore, I decided to sell my  Old Town Loon 138, powered by my Bending Branches paddle . Perhaps I'll get something a little sleeker in the future, if I ever am home long enough to paddle again..  For now, I'm traveling a lot, getting in some golf and cycling on my new bike.
My Yakima rack system has held my kayakers through all kinds of weather and speeds, and never let go! See the "Nice Rack" link below for more details.
Some of my growth as a kayaker has come from trips with the Conewago Canoe Club. One member named Gail got me  interested in the club by sticking this on my windshield one night when I was at the mall! heh Way to go, Gail! Other times I've hit the road alone and gone to places like Connecticut and Maine. Local friends at Blue Mountain Outfitters have helped gear me up so that I'm ready for what awaits me in the water.  Shanksmare and Ullers Ski & Board shop/Susquehanna Canoe are other fine places to gear up. I've paddled rivers, lakes and even some creeks up to Class II+ rapids. It's been a blast and the scenery is, well, check below and look for yourself! It's generally a very safe sport, but travel with a friend, equip yourself, and RESPECT THE WATERS.  Just realize they aren't as unstable as you think, and you're missing a lot of fun, scenery, and serenity by not trying a Demo Day somewhere. Go paddle one and experience the potential fun! I urge you to try, you may just become a kayaker too! Hopefully, I'll have time to get some more paddling and pics in soon!
